Grocers could be next on the list to start occupying empty mall space exacerbated by the impact of the pandemic on retail shopping habits. While no deals have been made, mall owners such as Simon Property Group have made reference to the idea and there are reports that Amazon has discussed plans with Simon to turn some empty store sites into warehouses and potentially into grocery locations.
