Social distancing is being enforced by our governments as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is, in some places, being reduced, and in others, strengthened. Regardless of whether or not it is being enforced by the government, to keep your employees safe, you must enforce it. Social distancing has preserved the lives of millions of people across the world. If you want to create a safe, tranquil, and relaxing working environment for your employees, then putting social distancing measures in place is what you must do. You must also punish employees that do not adhere to social distancing guidelines, as reckless employees risk shutting down your entire office and causing an outbreak of coronavirus. This page will hope to tell you the do’s and don’ts of social distancing in your workplace and how you can effectively enforce them.
Here are the dos and don’ts of social distancing at work.

The Dos

The dos of social distancing at work should be quite obvious, but in spite of that, will be outlined in thorough detail below. Enforcing social distancing at work is your obligation as an employer, as if you do not, you risk being the responsible party for people falling sick.

Shielding Equipment

Putting shielding equipment in place is a great way to enforce social distancing and to keep your employees safe. According to Marvable, a Singapore office furniture supplier, shielding equipment can give your employees the peace of mind necessary to work. Shielding equipment, like shielding screens, can be implemented all around your office to prevent there being any direct contact between your employees, thereby removing the threat of potential viral transmission and preserving the health of everybody in your office. Shielding equipment is absolutely essential for an office environment and must be enforced.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is another great way to preserve the health of the people who work in your office. Hand sanitizer is a frontline measure employed to directly fight the virus. Hand sanitizer is very effective in killing the coronavirus and when used correctly can keep everybody safe. When using hand sanitizer in combination with shielding equipment and personal protective equipment (which will be explained) then you will be able to preserve the health of every single employee (and yourself) in your office place. Hand sanitizer is a very effective method, and an absolute DO for your workplace.

PPE

PPE, or personal protective equipment, is another strategy employed effectively against the coronavirus. There are many forms of PPE, from masks to gloves, and everything in-between. Using PPE is a sure-fire way (especially in combination with the previous points) to battle the coronavirus and prevent it from establishing a foothold in your office and making people sick. There have been many office closures en masse as a result of the virus getting into the office, and had they just worn PPE and adhered to other social distancing measures then it would potentially not have happened in the first place.

The Don’ts

The don’ts of social distancing, again, should be painfully obvious, yet surprisingly, are not. Many people flagrantly disregard social distancing measures in favour of partying, drinking, and public get-togethers. Here are a few of the don’ts of social distancing:

Physical Contact

Perhaps the most obvious. Do not have ANY physical contact, with ANYONE. That means no shaking hands, no sharing cups or objects, and now face-to-face interactions. Physical contact is the most effective method of spreading the virus and is very dangerous. You can be infected by somebody talking spreading particles from the spit as they open their mouth into your eyes. Physical contact is an absolute no-no and the only way that you can ensure you do not contract the virus while at work is by preventing it completely.

Sharing

While sharing is ordinarily caring, in this case, it is not. Sharing is something that can seriously hurt people. Do not share drinking vessels or food. You must not touch anything of anybody else’s and absolutely do not drink from something that somebody else has been drinking from. This is a direct way to infect yourself with anything that they may be carrying.

Up Close and Personal

Getting in peoples faces and being up close and personal with people is a guaranteed way to become infected with this virus. Maintaining a distance of two meters is universally regarded as the best way to prevent becoming infected and preventing viral transmission.

Now you know the dos and don’ts of social distancing. Adhering strictly to this is a great way to ensure that you do not fall sick and do not become a victim of the COVID-19 virus. By being reckless, you take everybody’s lives into your hands.
