SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products with long-term value and immediate benefits, recently announced the launch of a cannabis lab division to better serve cannabis dispensaries and other cannabis-related businesses.
“Over the last year, we’ve seen an uptick in cannabis labs purchasing our FreeStyle BioLock and FreeStyle ESD. Adding resources to better serve this market just made sense,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc. “Most cannabis labs tend to be of the start-up variety. With our interlocking FreeStyle BioLock product, you have a product that can usually be self-installed in very short order with little or no down time.”
With its FreeStyle BioLock product, SelecTech pre-tests its flooring for the chemicals to be used in the lab, abiding by the Scientific Equipment & Furniture Association SEFA 8-M-2010 Recommended Practices For Metal Laboratory Grade Furniture, Casework, Shelving and Tables. In that document, SEFA lists the 49 chemicals recommended to test for on lab furniture, casework, shelving and tables. SelecTech routinely tests its lab floorings for many of those same chemicals.
BioLock utilizes a water-proof seam sealer that makes tiles liquid-tight but still removable and replaceable. This is a critical feature when you consider that some labs might be using chemicals that could be damaging if spilled and seeps into flooring. This is particularly important to protect the wiring and plumbing that are often underneath a lab’s floor.
“Additionally, many cannabis labs use expensive electronic equipment for testing. Much of this equipment is automated. Controlling static electricity in the lab is critical. That’s why many cannabis labs have opted for our FreeStyle ESD interlocking tile,” said Ricciardelli. “It has all the benefits of BioLock with static control capabilities.”
Made with 70 percent recycled materials and 100 percent recyclable, SelecTech flooring products meet CA 1350 Indoor Air Quality and is MAS Certified Green.
