Global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will  announces  the promotion of John Strasius, AIA, Corporate, Commercial, Civic (CCC) practice leader of the Dallas studio. Strasius will lead several project types across the corporate, commercial, and civic sectors, including libraries, city hall buildings, public safety facilities, corporate headquarters, office buildings, and hospitality spaces. His ability to cultivate relationships and manage all aspects of project design has ensured successful results for clients and a firmwide reputation for design excellence.

“John has a deep understanding of Perkins&Will’s culture, and we’re excited for him to continue applying human-centric, sustainable design practices across all projects,” says Tom Reisenbichler. “I look forward to John expanding our portfolio further with a continued focus on supporting client services.”

Furthering the Firm’s Mission of Design Excellence

In his new role, Strasius’ responsibilities will include setting practice strategies and goals, business development, and ensuring clients receive the best service and design excellence in the industry. He will also regularly communicate with leaders from the other global offices of Perkins&Will to share best practices, identify trends, and coordinate client service. With a history of serving on Perkins&Will’s Project Delivery Board, Executive Committee, and the firmwide Diversity Council, Strasius is prepared to leverage his understanding of the firm’s goals so that they can be successfully implemented in Texas.

Nearly Three Decades of Industry Experience

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Strasius has been with Perkins&Will for over 17 years. After completing his Master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1994, his career began in Chicago, where as an intern architect at two separate small firms, he gained experience in a variety of projects – from healthcare to libraries. Strasius then moved to Miami in 2003, where he worked for the Perkins&Will studio for two years before opening his own firm. During this time, he also worked in construction management and delivered his own “design-build” projects. This experience gave him a unique perspective on what it’s like to be on the “other side of the drawings.” In 2006, Strasius returned to Perkins&Will, where he began his role within the CCC practice in Dallas.

“The Dallas CCC practice has delivered multiple AIA design award-winning projects here in Texas,” says Strasius. “Over the last few years, we have been awarded larger, more complex commissions, and we have seen repeat business from many of our clients. In my new role, my goal is to continue building our reputation for good design with an emphasis on wellness and sustainability, to help foster the career development of the people in my firm, and to expand our CCC group to serve an increasingly diverse set of clients.”

Recent examples of projects that Strasius has led include the Baylor Scott & White Health Administrative Center in Dallas, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodges in Houston and Dallas, Lubbock Citizens Tower, The Pittman Hotel and the Epic I and II office towers in Dallas, and the North Belt Police Station in Houston.
