Pandemic steers restaurant sales to drive-thru windows

Drive-thru visits were already generating as much as 70% of total sales for some big quickserve chains, and the windows have become the center of sales as dining rooms around the country close due to the pandemic, according to The Wall Street Journal. Wendy’s now does 90% of its sales at the drive-thru, Taco Bell is featuring the pick-up option in its promotional campaigns and some casual dining chains are creating makeshift drive-thru windows.
