March 19th was National Automatic Door Day. As a true innovator in the field of automatic doors, Horton Automatics is excited to celebrate this day, which recognizes the important and often uncelebrated role those automatic doors play in our daily lives.
The doors we started developing in the 1950s and brought to market in 1960 have evolved over time to become a staple in countless industries, including healthcare, transportation, hospitality and retail.
Today, you can find Horton Automatics’ doors in airports, hospitals, laboratories, retail stores, hotels, manufacturing facilities and more. They are an important tool for accessibility, security, energy efficiency and health.
To celebrate Automatic Door Day, Horton has released this blog post that explores the history of the industry and several of the more significant developments, including:
Automatic Revolving Door Systems: The AutoFlow, MiniGrand and Grand automatic revolving door systems are ideal for heavy traffic with energy savings in mind. Available in center shaft or center core vestibule design configurations, these systems offer smooth, continuous rotation. We offer three- and four-wing automatic revolving door systems. Horton’s automatic revolving doors offer impressive architectural appeal, energy efficiency and effective high-traffic management.

Additionally, our Hurricane Rated Sliding Door systems are Miami-Dade County-approved and can withstand pressures up to 85 pounds per square foot. Heavy-duty rails are integrated with steel tubing and corner blocks to create robust structural integrity. A three-point locking system ensures that the doors are secure and anchored when closed. Customizable features like panic hardware are available in buildings that require egress at all times.
