Lidl US will spend about $500 million to open 50 new stores and hire 2,000 more workers by the end of next year. The grocer, which opened its 100th US store in May, says it will open new locations in nine states: Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
