GCI Consultants, LLC., a building envelope consulting firm with expertise in Hurricane Damage Inspections, is establishing an inspection team in the Panama City, Florida area to begin inspecting damaged buildings following Hurricane Michael devastating the area last October 2018. The first assignment will be inspection of damaged windows and doors for an apartment complex owner at three projects with 880 dwelling units and common areas. Following completion, the team will remain in the Panama City area indefinitely to inspect additional properties.

Paul Beers, CEO of GCI Consultants said, “This is some of the worst damage I have seen in my 25 plus years of hurricane damage inspections. In some ways, it reminds me of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Michael’s high winds devastated the area with a wide swath of damage. This follows Hurricane Irma’s 2017 impact across much of the state, where we are still inspecting damaged properties. We are well positioned to provide our expertise to property owners in the Panama City area to document the damage and submit claims to insurance carriers. We anticipate being here for quite some time since there is so much damage.”
GCI’s specialized niche for hurricane damage inspections is to inspect windows and doors in all sizes of buildings from single family residences up to high rise towers and assemble a report detailing damages that can be used with the insurance claim process. GCI also performs water leakage investigations where wind driven rain conditions can be simulated to identify and document the source of ongoing water intrusion of damaged windows and doors. GCI also has cladding and roof experts available for assessments of exterior building walls and roofs. Following damage assessments and reports, GCI provides claim support and expert testimony at insurance appraisal hearings, arbitrations and trials.
GCI Consultants, LLC is an exterior building envelope consulting firm with offices in South Florida and representation across the United Statesand the Caribbean. In addition to hurricane damage inspections, the firm’s services include Litigation Assistance and Expert Witness Testimony, Forensic Investigations, Property Condition Assessments and New Construction Design Assistance and Quality Control.
