Giovanni Papini once said that breathing is the greatest pleasure of life. We are often advised to breathe deeply and fill our lungs with all the fresh air around us. But have you ever pondered over the fact that taking in the air can also make you susceptible to airborne illness?
Apart from carrying oxygen, the air around us also contains bioaerosols, i.e., airborne biological contaminants, like bacteria, fungi, and viruses, and various airborne toxins. The incidences like oil spills further exacerbate the air quality when volatile oil products or vapors escape in the air. This makes oil separation solutions vital.
All in all, the air we breathe is nowhere near healthy. It can predispose us to various health conditions. But with a few measures, you can protect yourself and your family from the delinquency of besmirched air. Scroll down to know about them.

  • Wash your hands frequently

The latest scare of the novel coronavirus has developed the habit of washing hands frequently in all of us. This tip can be touted as the first line of defence against the deadliest airborne infection.
We keep touching various objects around us unconsciously, and some microbes escape in the air, contaminating it further.
You must wash your hands with a gentle soap for about 20 seconds under clean running water.

  • Don’t miss immunizations

Most people stay on top of the immunization game when it comes to their kids, but they also nurture a misconception that adults don’t need immunization. Contrary to this famous belief, you also need immunization.
Taking diphtheria and tetanus shots every ten years is recommended. Taking a flu shot is equally essential as it guards you against airborne diseases.
Maintain an immunization record and stick to the schedule.

  • Use a face mask

The world knows the perils of stepping out without a mask these days. Apart from coronavirus, certain other viruses linger in the air that can cause severe infections. Wearing a mask gets even more important if you are surrounded by a lot of people.
Make sure none of your family members leaves home without wearing an air repair mask that is designed to protect you from airborne particles. These masks create a hostile environment for the microorganisms, thereby protecting you.

  • Use an air purifier

Air purifiers go a long way in eliminating airborne germs from your home. They manage to expel the smallest particles of about 0.3 microns, including viruses and bacteria. The more advanced models come equipped with the latest technologies, like UV-C light that wipe out all the microbes from the air.

  • Use antiseptic sprays

Antiseptic sprays are scientifically-proven to kill almost a hundred percent germs and last for at least six hours.
It is one of the easiest methods to get rid of the germs traveling across your home through air. All you need to do is take a good quality antiseptic spray, spray a few spritzes, and your home is free from germs. Moreover, it also keeps your home smelling fresh.
You can sanitize all the items, including furniture, toothbrush holders, board games, etc.,

  • Do not go out when you are sick

If you are unwell, make sure you maintain a safe distance from your family members. Stay home and postpone your travel plans.
The bottom line
Even the tiniest of creatures can make you sick. Air pollution and the presence of allergens in the air also contribute to airborne illnesses.
If you follow these tips, you will be able to protect yourself and your families from all kinds of airborne diseases.
