Dollar General‘s steady growth since 2008 has continued even during the pandemic, with more than 1,000 new store openings in 2020 and more than 1,600 renovations. The retailer’s growth to more than 17,177 sites has put a store within five miles of nearly 75% of Americans, and its new emphasis on fresh food offerings and expansion of its Dollar General Market concept are driving future expansion, which includes hiring 20,000 people this year.
