Bayer Properties has hired Lindsay Vetzner as vice president of Anchor Leasing to oversee big box leasing and development efforts across Bayer’s 10-million-plus-square-foot portfolio. Vetzner will be based in Bayer’s mid-Atlantic office in Philadelphia, joining Senior Vice President of National Key Accounts Nikki Columbo, as the company focuses on growing its leadership team and expanding its national footprint.
“Over the past year, we have been fortunate enough to retain our entire company, while also growing our team with industry leaders like Lindsay, allowing us to deliver a better experience for our clients, tenants and end-users,” said Paul Neuroth, executive vice president of leasing at Bayer Properties. “Using his vast knowledge and strong, existing relationships, we are confident Lindsay will be able to find creative solutions in the big box arena to both backfill space as well as identify redevelopment opportunities.”
As VP of Anchor Leasing, Vetzner will also work alongside Bayer Co-President Libby Lassiter to recruit other big box and grocery-anchored centers into Bayer’s portfolio.
“While COVID-19 certainly accelerated the decline of many retailers, those in the big box sector are still thriving; especially in the discounted goods category. People still crave the in-store shopping experience, and we think that’s only going to get stronger over the next several months. I’m excited to join Bayer’s team of all-star leasing pros and establish an innovative approach toward anchor leasing,” said Vetzner.
Vetzner joins Bayer after a six-year tenure with Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) where he led the big box and outparcel leasing efforts for a 22-million-square-foot portfolio. While at PREIT, Vetzner successfully leased over 1.3 million square feet, including eight redeveloped Sears, Macy’s and JCPenney anchor stores.
Prior to PREIT, he worked with three regional and national retailers with footprints ranging from 25,000 to 40,000 square feet. Additionally, Vetzner’s career in retail real estate has included coast-to-coast assignments, ranging from vertical projects in Bronx, New York, to spending months evaluating the Southern California shopping center landscape.
