When it comes to putting something on the wall of your bathroom, the two main options to choose from are wall cladding or wall tiles. Whilst they each have their own advantages and disadvantages, a lot of the time it comes down to personal preference and which style or finish you prefer.
One way of deciding which wall fixing is the best for you to choose is by following our comparison guide, which looks at a number of different aspects.

  • Hygiene – once you have installed wall cladding in your bathroom, there is then no requirement for you to do any grouting. Because PVC is completely mould repellent, there is no chance that there will be any bacteria growing on it. Also, unlike with tiles, there is no chance of the cladding’s colour fading or becoming discoloured.
  • Cost – in comparison to traditional ceramic or porcelain wall tiles, PVC bathroom wall cladding is a much cheaper version. Not only is it cheaper, but cladding is also much quicker to install thanks to how easy it is to put up. When examining the cost per square meter between cladding and tiles, it is the former that always comes out the cheapest option.
  • Safety – when it comes to the danger of fire, PVC bathroom wall cladding does not catch fire when exposed to a naked flame and actually extinguishes itself. For this reason, it is actually classified as non flammable. The chemicals used in the sealer for tile grout are actually flammable and so can pose a danger when exposed to a naked flame.
  • Maintenance – because of the finish that most types of bathroom wall cladding has, it means that it is really easy to clean. With the surface being consistent and non porous, there is no space for dirt and grime to gather in. As a result, the cladding really does stand up to the test of time, looking as good in ten years time as it does right after it has been installed. With tiles, they can become discolored over time and be more prone to showing signs of wear and tear. Unlike cladding, tiles also have the potential to break or crack too.
  • Water Resistance – the reason why bathroom wall cladding is becoming increasingly popular is largely down to the fact that it is completely water resistant, as well as being resistant to mould also. Because of this, cladding can be used in pretty much any space that needs to be waterproof. However, traditional wall tiles are much more restrictive in how they can be used. Whilst the vast majority of them are water resistant, they most definitely do act as a breeding ground for bacteria and mould.

If after reading these comparisons you feel like bathroom cladding is the most suitable option for your space, then you should pay a visit to bathroom cladding Middlesbrough. This is because they have lots of different styles and finishes, so there will definitely be something there that matches your own personal taste or style.
