What Are The Options?

When choosing a new countertop,  make sure to get something according to your personal preferences, which also matches the rest of your kitchen interior. The options are numerous, and the best of them are listed below.

Granite

Granite is an excellent material to get if you have a more significant budget. This material is pretty much a rock whose mineral composition consists of coarse grains of quartz (10-50%), potassium feldspar, and sodium feldspar.
Its colors can vary from light pink to light gray, and it is one of the most elegant materials out there! There are over 3000 colors and types to choose from.
The material is incredibly strong and durable, and the heat and fluids cannot get through. Apart from all that, it will add some value to your real estate! Granite is not meant to be installed by an inexperienced homeowner. To avoid cracks and stains, make sure to hire professionals to help you with the installation and sealing.
On average, granite costs from $40 to $60 per square foot. This luxurious material will surely make your kitchen look fancy!

Soapstone

Soapstone also known as steatite or soaprock, is a type of metamorphic rock commonly used to make countertops and some kitchen utensils as well.
The name ‘soapstone’ comes from the stone’s slippery and soft texture. It is usually available in dark gray color, and it has an antique vibe to it. Nevertheless, it can be perfectly combined with modern styles, too.
The stone is resistant to heat and stains. However, it can turn darker and develop scratches over time. You can use mineral oils in order to preserve this material.
This material costs $70 to $120 per square foot on average, which is slightly expensive for countertop materials. However, it does offer great quality and an excellent stylish addition to your kitchen.

Marble

Marble is another metamorphic rock that is composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals. What is great about this material is that every piece of marble has a different pattern, so your countertop will be 100% unique.
Even though marble is heat resistant and waterproof, it will easily stain unless it is sealed. However, with modern sealing capabilities, this should not be a problem.
Marble countertops can be costly, with a price range of $40 to $200 per square foot on average. Thus, people limit the usage of marble to only essential parts of their homes.

Quartz

Quartz is a hard crystalline mineral composed of silicon and oxygen atoms. This is a widely available mineral worldwide. Quartz is transparent, and it is believed to have healing capabilities too.
With the price range of $50 to $65 per square foot on average, quartz is much cheaper than granite, marble, and soapstone.
Engineered quartz can be made to imitate natural marble. Also, quartz is an excellent option since the installation is not as complicated, and you can do it on your own with a bit of basic knowledge.
Since it is easy to maintain, this material does not have to be sealed. You will not have issues with stains if you choose quartz. The only setback is that these countertops are heavy, but then again, you will not be moving them around.

Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles are primarily used as a flooring material, but they can look just as good on your countertop as well!
They are easy to clean, durable, inexpensive, and you have plenty of sizes and patterns to choose from. Depending on the type you choose, you can pay anywhere from $1 per square foot to $15 per square foot.
Either way, it is much cheaper than the materials mentioned above. Apart from that, water and heat will not cause any significant damage to this material!
What is remarkable is that it is easy to install such countertops, making them even more appealing. However, they do not carry the same value as, e.g., marble.

Wood

Wooden countertops tend to make your kitchen seem comfortable and cozy. They are not difficult to maintain, but you must clean them properly to avoid bacteria.
Such countertops are commonly made of maple and oak and are available in various colors and finishes. The price range is usually from $60 to $100 per square foot. It imparts your kitchen a chic and classy look.
However, keep in mind that these countertops can easily be damaged and stained, even by water. Thus, you would have to be extra careful with them. On the other hand, it is easy to seal and reseal them, so this should not be too big of a hindrance.
Endnote
Making your countertop suit your style should not be an issue. There are numerous materials out there, and you have to find the one that fits your budget and interior. Make sure to go for the best material and look for both durability and ease of cleaning while making a choice. After all, you would not want to go through the hassle of deep-cleaning your countertop on a daily basis.
Reach out to professionals who can guide you in making a perfect choice for your countertop that blends well with your kitchen interiors. Make sure you do proper research before making a choice!
