Being a plumbing crew isn’t as easy as it once was. There is a wide range of projects to be completed and most crews include several different trained plumbing professionals all working together to ensure the job, no matter how big or small, gets done on time and is handled the right way. Take some time to learn how to effectively manage your crew and how to approach tasks and you’ll get them done more quickly while maintaining your quality. You can work as an individual crew, or work with a contractor to help you get more work fast, but you’ll want to follow these tips either way that you run your business.
Plan Every Project
Take time before a project begins to plan it all out. Think about exactly what needs to be done, and who is going to do it. Successful planning ensures that work gets done quickly and efficiently and this advice applies nicely to most plumbing crews. Plan the work for your crew, and you’ll burn through it faster than you might have believed possible before.

Delegate Tasks Clearly
Every plumbing foreman should lay out all the tasks for his crew to complete at the beginning of the day. The tasks should be explained clearly, and given to the specific people that are supposed to do them. Only delegate tasks to the people that are supposed to do them, and make sure everyone is focusing on the task they are best at completing. This ensures that all the work gets done and that no one person is worrying about too many different projects throughout the day. You can reallocate workers to other projects as they complete their own, if some workers are finishing before others.
Handle Office Tasks Outside the Standard Work Day
Running a plumbing crew comes along with office tasks on top of the work itself. This is work that’s best left until after the day is complete. Spend the working day closely keeping an eye on workers and ensuring that tasks are completed properly. Take some time after the key hours of the work day to complete key administration tasks like paperwork and research that don’t involve other members of the team. This will dramatically speed up your team’s ability to get projects done during the day.
