A retail store designed by Cincinnati-based Hixson Architecture, Engineering, Interiors, was selected as a “Gold” winner for Retail Store Design in the United States Design & Development Awards sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The award, for the Bloomingdale’s at Glendale Galleria in Glendale, Calf., was the second for the store’s design. It also was honored with a Cincinnati Design Award from the American Institute of Architects for the design team of Hixson, Kevin Kennon Architects (New York), and contractor C.W. Driver (Los Angeles). The 115,000-square-foot Bloomingdale’s at Glendale Galleria features two stories of interior space designed to showcase high-end merchandise in 48 designer shops. As a Gold winner, the design now is eligible to win an ICSC VIVA Best-of-the-Best Award. The “ICSC VIVA Best-of-the-Best Awards,” which recognize the shopping center industry’s most cutting-edge properties, will be presented during ICSC’s annual convention, RECon, May 17, 2015 in Las Vegas.
