Nearly 100 U.S. construction project schedulers using Asta Powerproject made their way to Broomfield, Colorado last week for the software company’s first ever user conference in the States.
User conferences have been an important part of the Asta Powerproject experience in the U.K. and other parts of the world for more than a decade.
“We had a great turnout for this event even though we put it together so quickly,” said Curt Corrigan of Project Integration, the Asta Powerproject reseller in the Rocky Mountain region. “Users were really clamoring for a regional meeting to connect with other users and get tips for the best ways to maximize their use of the software.”
Conference attendees heard from several speakers including Rex Snyder from Sage Consulting Group who discussed the role of the schedule in avoiding and resolving project disputes. John Luna, an engineer with Carollo Engineers Associates shared how he helped create a culture where schedules are seen as a critical tool for project management. And Chris Ray, a consultant with Elecosoft who has more than 20 years of experience working with Asta Powerproject, showcased real-world use cases and detailed features that will be included in upcoming versions.
Ray also met with users individually for one-on-one consultancy sessions on day two of the conference.
Other conference sessions included:

  • Getting starting with Asta Powerproject and understanding the value of templates
  • File option settings and views for reporting output
  • Opening a P6 schedule in Asta and SDEF considerations
  • Setting up resources and cost and understanding modeling types
  • Business Intelligence reports and dashboards
  • Enterprise implementation
  • Creating formulae and macros
  • Site Progress Mobile and Asta Powerproject BIM

Due to the high turnout and continued interest from other regions, Elecosoft anticipates an additional user conference for east coast users this fall.
Asta Powerproject was originally released in the UK in 1988 and has more than 100,000 users in that country, Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula. The company began selling Asta Powerproject in the U.S. in 2013 and has seen rapid adoption.
“We’re grateful for the trust our U.S. clients have placed in Asta Powerproject and we’re committed to their success,” says Jason Ruddle, Managing Director of Elecosoft. “We will continue to invest in programs like this user conference that allow us to connect with those project schedulers who are shaping the future of construction every day.”
