Construction employment up in 244 out of 358 metro areas

Construction employment increased in 244 out of 358 metro areas, was unchanged in 44 and declined in 70 between March 2015 and March 2016, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released today by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials said the new figures show that the construction sector, in most parts of the country, continues to recover from its years-long downturn. View rank View state View map  (more…)

Anthropologie to open shop at Mall of America

Anthropologie will open a 10,000-square-foot store at Minnesota’s Mall of America, the first new retail tenant named for an expansion opened last year. The new store will be the retailer’s fifth in the region and is slated to open before the holidays. Read the Star Tribune story here

Red Rock Resorts expects to raise up to $569M in IPO

Red Rock Resorts believes that its initial public offering could raise up to $569 million and value the company at $2.4 billion. The casino operator indicated in a regulatory filing that its 27.1 million class A shares would be priced from $18 to $21. Read the Las Vegas Review-Journal story here

Marriott expands its Delta Hotels brand into U.S.

Marriott International‘s expansion of the Canada-based Delta Hotels and Resorts into the United States demonstrates its intention to grow the brands it acquires in the merger with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, executives said. Construction set to start on Bucks’ $524M NBA arena project

The National Basketball Association’s Milwaukee Bucks have scheduled a groundbreaking for a new $524 million arena this summer. The cost of the project has increased $24 million since it was first announced. Hunzinger Construction Co. started preliminary site work.
