Burger Grill eyes doubling its store count

The 100-unit, California-based Habit Burger Grill saw a double-digit sales bump in the fourth quarter, after Consumer Reports said it had the country’s best-tasting burgers. The chain will open up to 28 company-owned units and five franchise locations this year, with an eye on doubling in size by 2019 and eventually boasting 2,000 restaurants. Future looks good for U.S. extended-stay hotels

The supply and demand growth rates for America’s extended-stay hotels have been increasing steadily over the past three years, and that trend is expected to continue, according to Smith Travel Research. Office construction beginning to heat up, reports say

The office sector is “at the beginning of a new construction cycle, but not necessarily one that will result in excessive supply,” according to¬†a report from Principal Global Investors. The recovery in rents and pricing is driving the activity, it says. Other recent reports note an increase in office construction. Qatar Airways will look for hotel buys in the U.S., U.K.

Qatar Airways has announced plans to buy hotel properties in North America and the U.K., following its acquisition of the Sheraton Skyline Hotel property at London’s Heathrow Airport, which is still managed by Starwood under the deal. Read the Bloomberg story here
