Dream group to oversee 4 brands of former Hampshire

The newly named Dream Hotel Group will focus on four brands of the former Hampshire Hotels Management and its Debut Hotel Group. Debut is history only a year after being created to manage Hampshire’s five lifestyle hotels. Hersha sells stake in 7 Manhattan hotels for $571.4M

Hersha Hospitality Trust is selling a 70% stake in seven of its Manhattan hotels to Chinese investment firm Cindat Capital Management for $571.4 million. Hersha will use some of the $300 million in proceeds from the transaction to acquire assets including The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown and Hilton Garden Inn on M Street, both in Washington, D.C. N.Y. targeted for 10 Starwood “Specialty Select” hotels

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide plans to open 10 new properties in New York state under its Aloft, Element and Four Points brands by the end of 2018, most in New York City. The recently opened Four Points New York Downtown is among more than 200 in that group of Starwood’s “Specialty Select” brands. Starwood opened a record 105 hotels in 2015. Slowdown, but not downturn, predicted for 2016

A slowdown in growth is likely after the outstanding RevPAR performance of 2015, but it should remain vigorous over the near term, industry experts generally concurred at the recent Americas Lodging Investment Summit.
